Cathay Pacific Airlines operates to 168 destinations in 42 countries worldwide with codeshare and joint ventures with other airlines and their fleet consists of Airbus A330s and A340, Boeing 747 and 777.

The Airline is a founding member of the “OneWorld alliance program” which entails members access to premier world-class lounges irrespective of the class they are flying.

Cathay Pacific was also awarded the prestigious Skytrax’s 2014 “Airline of the Year” award. It has also won the “World’s Best Airline” award for the fourth time, an accolade only bestowed on Cathay Pacific so far.

Here’s a review of the CATHAY PACIFIC Business Class A350-900 and the big brother – the B777-300.

Is $7000 on a Business-Class in Cathay Pacific really worth it?

Cathay Pacific has a reputation for excellence and significant attention to detail and they do live up to the expectations when it comes to providing an exemplary service. The airline has a reputation for maintaining the best business class service with a young fleet of cheerful servers, great premium cabins, and some of the best airport lounges in the world.

Big Business Class Lounge:

Looking out from the loungers by the window gives a great view of the outside. There are multiple areas Inside with a restaurant area, followed by a section of larger seating area with long couches to rest, the business center where you can check emails on a Mac computer, also take a quick shower to get revved up but what sets it apart is the dining experience.

They have a wide selection of bars like a real bar, a wine bar, a hot or a cold bar, and even a taco bar in the lounge.

In-flight seating and stowage:

There are 42 seats in business class on a B777 arranged in a reverse-herringbone fashion with a 1-2-1 configuration enabling everyone to have aisle access. The small divider between the seats makes eye contact difficult with the neighbor and an intentional act as you need to lean forward for that, so much for the privacy.

There are 2 windows in each business class seat; one at the shoulders and one at the knee position which makes it look very roomy.

There is plenty to hold in the cubbyhole right under the leg rest, the 2nd one is below the side table with enough room to store a mid-size 14-inch laptop and has a full electrical outlet to charge devices, and outlets to connect your devices to screen and a USB port.

While Cathay does provide duvets and mood lighting, their flatbed seats do not come with bedding or pajamas, just to mention the downside.

Luxury Amenities:

There is a basic amenity kit that contains eyeshade, moisturizer, serum, and lip balm from Jurlique, earplugs, toothpaste, and toothbrush.

In-Flight Entertainment:

Cathay believes in improvising things and with their latest update to the in-flight entertainment system — the selection appears to be much more diverse with sharper and more responsive screens.

The tables and monitor can be adjusted from many different angles. The monitor can also be pulled out like the remote console to adjust viewing angles in the A350. The handy touchscreen doubles up as a secondary screen and also lets you have a view of the moving map and cameras outside.

Food:

The flight begins with champagne and white wine. There is an option of the Cantonese and the Western choice on an 8 menu page. You shall love the multi-course presentation to round off with hot snacks in-between and a Hagen Daz ice cream in the end.

The main course has a wide choice of freshly prepared dips and bread with a fresh note of seasonal berry. For those who prefer a lighter meal, there is broccoli soup with breadsticks, herb-marinated chicken breast, and feta cheese.

Selection of some of the best wines and drinks:

There is a variety of champagnes with a Cuvee brut that has a hint of almond, fresh hazelnut accompanied with a citrus blend of pear and apple, excellent selection of aperitif White wines, Red wines, and Desert wine to select from.

Kick off with vodka, Cointreau and Sprite served over a light appetizer, warm bread, and berries.

In hard drinks, they serve Aperitifs and cocktails like Bombay Sapphire dry Gin, Campari, Sweet and dry sherry, Non-alcoholic signature drinks, Whisky like Chivas Regal 12 year and Johnnie Walker Gold, Jack Daniels, and Cognac.

Wi-Fi:

The Wi-Fi service costs $12 for 6 hours.
